Qld: Bob Scheuber appointed chief of Queensland Rail
BRISBANE, Dec 13 AAP - Bob Scheuber, deputy chief executive of Queensland Rail (QR),
was today appointed to head the organisation after Vince O'Rourke retires on Friday after
10 years as its chief.
Queensland Transport Minister Steve Bredhauer said 45-year-old Mr Scheuber was the
son of a train driver and had worked for QR since 1974.
Mr Scheuber had been QR's deputy CEO since 1995 and would provide strong leadership
for the organisation and build on its reputation for excellence, Mr Bredhauer said.
A fellow of the Australian Society of Certified Practicing Accountants, Mr Scheuber
holds degrees in commerce and economics and is a member of the Australian Institute of
Management and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
He served QR as chief financial accountant and prior to corporatisation, was assistant
commissioner, finance and administration.
Mr Scheuber said he was pleased and proud to be appointed as QR's CEO.
"The work done in QR in the last 10 years has put the organisation in a very strong
position relative to other Australian and international railways," he said in a statement.
"My job will be build on that strength and realise our vision to be Australia's best
national transport and logistics business."
