Economist Jan Qvigstad was named deputy governor of the central bank of Norway Friday, succeeding Jarle Bergo, who is stepping down after two terms to become deputy leader of the Nordic-Baltic office of the International Monetary fund in New York.
In the new post, Qvigstad, 58, will be second-in-command to bank governor Svein Gjedrem. He assumes the post April 1 for up to six years.
