Fed: Tiny council condemns fed govt's stance on Iraq

TOWNSVILLE, Jan 17 AAP - A tiny north Queensland council has spoken out against thefederal government's stance on Iraq, saying others should follow suit.

Herberton Shire Council yesterday took the unusual step of passing a formal resolutionon Iraq, to reflect residents' fears about the possibility of war.

It expressed concern about the government's "involvement in actions which appear topre-empt a decision of the United Nations to take military action against Iraq".
