Fed: Greens write to PM seeking higher tax for rich

The Australian Greens want those earning a million dollars or more each year to pay more tax.

Greens leader BOB BROWN has written to KEVIN RUDD seeking an increase in the top marginal
tax rate from 45 per cent to 50 per cent .. a proposal he says was originally costed by
the Australia Institute think tank.

Senator BROWN says the increase would raise an estimated 450 million dollars a year
.. but only affect a small number of taxpayers.
