Expert Panel and Speakers Explore the Impact of Online Media and Technology on the Boomer Lifestyle
LAS VEGAS -- Leading minds from the world of online media and technology will come together to discuss the latest developments in the field, and how the Web will impact Boomers' lives at the 6th annual Beyond the Numbers: Boomer Market Summit on March 26 and 27 at The Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas. The two-day conference features business tips and winning strategies from leading experts on the Boomer marketplace, as well as market data and case studies directly from those thought leaders and entrepreneurs that are finding the best avenues for connecting with the growing legion of American Boomers.
Kicking off the second day will be Jeff Taylor, Founder and CEO of Eons, who will discuss how eons.com is breaking down myths regarding the 50-plus generation. Jeff reinvented the way job hunters find employment when he launched Monster.com and forever changed an industry. Today, Jeff is creating new market opportunities around the increasingly sought-after group of 50-plus baby boomers advertisers want to reach. "After 20 years of talking about Baby Boomers 'exiting,' we have the privilege of being first-movers in the Boomer 'graduation' to an active and adventurous life after the age of 50," says Taylor.
Targeting, Connecting and Influencing Boomers Digitally
Following Jeff Taylor will be Jeff Ratner, Managing Partner and N.A. Digital Director for MindShare INTERACTION, who will speak on "Digital Boomers - The Next Tech Set." According to Jeff, "As the number of boomers in the digital space grows, marketers need to make digital a compelling part of any 360 degree marketing program. Interactive environments are the ideal place to engage, educate and create a dialogue with these desirable and highly influential individuals." Jeff will share his digital expertise and will use compelling examples from MindShare INTERACTION work with blue chip clients to demonstrate how some of the best integrated strategies are working.
Online Panel Hosted by Jack Barrette
Boomers make up the Web's largest demographic, accounting for 1/3 of the 195.3 million Web users in the U.S. They also spend more money than the average Web user. The 11.5 million seniors that currently access the Internet is expected to double by 2010. What does this mean to marketers? The panel looks at online as an advertising medium and at ways in which the Web will engage the dominant older population and enhance their lives.
The afternoon's Online Panel will be moderated by Jack Barrette, former Category Development Officer for Yahoo!. Jack Barrette currently is CEO/President of MovingHealth, a Cambridge, MA company focused on innovation in online consumer health. Moving is developing breakthrough user experiences in areas like rich media, video, consumer communities, and social search. Jack has over 20 years of health marketing experience, including as a principal at Internet strategy firm MT. Vernon Partners; as Director of Marketing and Sales for a national rehabilitation company; and as Global Health & Medical Practice Leader at interactive services firm Agency.
Participating in the panel will be Misha Cornes, Director of Strategy, Organic; Sharon Whiteley, President/CEO of ThirdAge; David Weigelt, Partner, Immersion Active; Monique Levy, Analyst, JupiterResearch; and Cathy Kerzner, President, Healthcare Businesswomen's Association.
"As early believers in the potency of baby boomer and aging midlife communities online, it's exciting to see the marketplace waking up," notes Sharon Whiteley, CEO of ThirdAge, Inc. "Demographics haven't changed; what's changed is marketer's recognition of their buying power, their influence and their significant role in the digital future."
